So today we did our first mission op. It went well, took an hour or so for everyone to arrive and get ready for it and there was a bit of a lull later on but overall, good stuff. The lull was caused by a bad mission being accepted. It was a courier type mission and we were looking for more action against level 4 battlecruisers and the like. Fortunately, the next mission run was exactly that and we all regained some momentum and completed the mission as quick as possible.
It looks like I'm in charge of a squad so that means I'll be making sure everyone's cool with the tactics we're using, that morale is up, the schedule is good, etc. I'm thinking of getting everyone in the squad to use a frigate and have one or two support ships like battlecruisers or cruisers. Practicing tactics in frigates will help a lot and make them become much better pilots. Learning how to defend and support the bigger ships during an attack is really useful. Especially when everyone can figure out how to call out and engage targets as a squad instead of launching a haphazard kill-everything-in-sight attack which usually brings in way too many rats for us to fight off.
So I joined a new corporation started by some corp members from the last corporation I was in. Seems to be much better organized with some simple milestones set up so I think it will go well. I've figured out finally how I want to play the game. For extra income I'm producing some things on planets and doing manufacturing and then making Jita runs once in a while. Otherwise I'm in the corp's designated missoning and mining systems doing ops with them.
The planet production takes a day to plan out and setup but once it's going all I have to do is check in & make sure there's enough resources and mining to keep things in production. Once a week I have to do a Jita run to sell those items off.
The manufacturing is a bit more tedious since I have to refine whatever we get from missions for minerals or ask for some minerals from our mining ops. It's also tedious because it requires a lot more calculation to figure out which items are profitable. I'm getting used to producing and then placing sell orders
